'The River That Saved Me' is a beautifully woven tale of love and redemption set in Africa. Natasha Steenblock ('Nat') is a freelance photographer from Germany who goes to Africa on a photo shoot for a new resort. She meets Tom, a doctor the natives call 'Daktari' who makes house calls by airplane. Together, they find love, adventure, and the realities of living on the Dark Continent. Fully illustrated.

Author Kara Benson splits her time between Germany, Africa, and a home in Australia. Her real-life experiences living in these places colors her writing and makes reading her work a pleasure. The second book in the 'Nat' series, 'Tears and Tusks,' will be released in 2008.
